Snake River Exhibit

Exhibitions & Exhibit Elements

In a 2018 exhibit at The Mammoth Site, I painted the background  mural based on reference pictures taken at the dig site in SE Wisconsin. I developed the foreground landscape using foam, glue, hard-coatings, paint, artificial foliage, bison bones, paper-mache and other materials. I was able to integrate the artificial turf almost seamlessly to the grassy background. While most of the foreground elements are not to scale, the scene does a good job of depicting how the bones are erupting from the muddy embankment and being excavated. The creek, painted on top of the hard coat, shows other aquatic inhabitants of the local ecology and through the glass surround, one gets to see what might be below the surface.
